How did you benefit from your experience at ABI?
Â
Not only did I learn important things about cat training and care, but the certifications also gave me more confidence. While I came into the program with a lot of cat-care knowledge and experiences, I felt a bit like an imposter calling myself a cat expert. But with the certifications, I feel that needed confidence to put myself forward as a capable resource to my clients.
Â
What was your favorite course?
Â
I enjoyed most the Feline Health and Nutrition course at ABI. The teacher was great with a lot of balance in her perspectives. And this course really helped me pinpoint the niche that I am now taking in pet care – not only helping with behavior via training and enrichment, but also how might diet and wellness be impacting the behavior. I have additionally worked on credentials as a Pet Holistic Health Coach.
Â
How did you complete your field experience?
Â
I was able to continue to utilize my own business in cat consultations as my source of field credit hours. My best source was a local veterinarian who also happened to own a cat shelter.
Â
What have you been doing since you graduated from ABI?
Â
I’ve done a lot! The biggest achievements are publishing my books which can be found here on my site or on Amazon, Goodreads, or IngramSpark. I also have worked at getting my website up to scratch. Getting insurances and legal releases in place. I’ve joined many professional associations to bolster networking opportunities.  I’ve had the chance to do several speaking engagements and have enjoyed attending events as a vendor. I’m applying for a few business grants to help me with marketing. Of course, the most rewarding work is directly counseling with my clients, which continues to build.
Â
Would you recommend ABI to others?
Â
Sure! My experience with ABI was positive and I am grateful to have my certifications.
