Dr. Lori has devoted the better half of her adult life to enhancing the lives of both people and animals. Her research is rooted in Anthrozoology (the science of Human/Non-human animal connection) and she is always ready to have a conversation about animals and our complex relationships with them.
Dr. Lori developed the concept of ‘Canine CounterStories’, a framework that asks us to pause and consider another angle each dog may be experiencing in the moment. What is assumed as ‘always been’ may have had another possible perspective all along.
This critical thinking allows for replacing generic labels with individualized assessments centered around each animal’s lived experience, helping them to better learn and thrive. She brings these ideas to life through her monthly blog series ‘Unleashing Canine CounterStories: Exploring Humane Education with Dr. Lori’. Her belief is that everyone deserves to be clearly seen and met exactly where they are – pupils and pups alike!
