ABI Career Finder - Caveats & Disclaimers

Many of us start searching for animal-related careers with a specific job in mind. Unfortunately, many careers can go by multiple titles and some titles can be applied to many different jobs! While our Career Finder tool can't possibly cover all professional options related to animal behavior, training and therapy, we hope it will provide some preliminary guidance for those exploring alternate careers.

The ABI Career Finder will lead you to potential careers that match your interests. But first a few caveats and disclaimers.

1. Salaries & Compensation: If you're serious about pursuing an animal-related career be aware that most of these jobs are not particularly high paying (with exceptions of course). Salaries, in part, are a function of supply and demand and there are more people interested in many of these careers then there are positions available. Don't feel discouraged, but go into it with your eyes open. Also be aware that many of these jobs exhibit a great deal of variability in pay depending upon your geographic location, experience, and so on.

2. Options: The careers listed are not intended as a complete list of all possibilities but rather represents a sampling of the many options available. While we've strived to provide a broad array of professions, there are a huge number of potential careers out there. There may also be many different names for jobs that are functionally very similar. Focus on the type of work you'd like to do rather than a name or job classification.

3. Finally, please remember that many enterprising individuals are already creating their own unique positions in the workforce. You are limited only by your determination and imagination. Anything is possible!
