Certificate Programs

Each certificate requires the completion of five courses (15 academic credits) designed to help students develop a thorough understanding of their chosen field. Certificates typically include a combination of both required courses and a choice of program electives. Courses in each program may be taken in any order; most students complete their classes in less than a year. Transfer credit is also available for courses taken at an accredited college or university. Your academic adviser can assist you with the process of applying for transfer credit.

Each certificate also requires completion of the field requirement, 40 hours of relevant, hands-on experience as an employee, intern or volunteer at an approved institution of your choice.

Graduates and enrolled students also receive assistance with every step of the process, from professional training to career counseling and guidance. The Animal Behavior Institute currently offers five certificate programs: Animal Training & Enrichment, Animal Assisted Therapy, Zoo & Aquarium Science, Wildlife Rehabilitation and Laboratory Animal Behavior.
